Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting of Destinations Credit Union will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. – location to be determined. Join us for light refreshments, prizes and a look at the year in review, as well as the future plans of the Credit Union. The business meeting will begin promptly at 5:30. Watch for more details on our website.


There are four candidates for the three available seats on the Board for 2019. Destinations Credit Union will send a ballot for the upcoming Board Election, 

If you are signed up for eStatements, your ballot will be available from within Online Banking. If you receive paper statements, the ballot will be mailed to you at the address on our system.
Please make sure we have your current address and a good e-mail address for you. Ballots will be sent out no later than February 15, 2019 and must be returned no later than midnight on March 14, 2019. Paper ballots must be returned to a Post Office Box which will be checked by our Tellers of Election.

Candidate Biographies

Lorenz Birkenbach

Lorenz Birkenback is retired from the Maryland Transit Administration where he served as driver for 31 years.  He served on the Credit Committee for Destinations Credit Union for 29 years and has served on the Board of Directors for 16 years.

Reid Kreider

Reid Krieder is retired from the Maryland Transit Administration where he was employed as the Information Technology Director and Chief Information Officer.  He had more than 35 years of management, project management, and operations experience in both the public and private sectors.  He has been affiliated with Destinations for more than twenty years, serving on the Supervisory Committee then on the Board of Directors – currently as Chairman of the Board.  He possesses comprehensive knowledge and experience in fiscal responsibilities within the Credit Union organization, with proven ability to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate policies and budgets.

Joan Montgomery

Joan Montgomery joined the Destinations Credit Union Board of Directors in 2011 as part of the merger with United Maryland Employee FCU. She currently serves as Secretary to the Board.  She is employed by St. Agnes Hospital as the HR Onboarding Coordinator for the Ascension Ministry.  Prior to that, she worked in Human Resources for Sweetheart (Solo) Cup Company, LifeBridge Health (Northwest, Levindale and Carroll Hospital) and Integrace (Fairhaven/Copper Ridge).  She is the recipient of many business and profession awards and graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS degree in Kinesiology and a MA in Management from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland.  She has been a Credit Union member and volunteer for over 30 years.

Ian Parker

Ian Parker is currently a Property Manager with Atapco Properties.  Prior to that, he was an accountant for various construction and property accounts and as an analyst for Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Securities Group.  He holds an MBA from the University of Maryland and a BS in Business Administration from Towson University.  He has volunteered as a Financial Manager for Talmar, Inc. and as a Site Manager for the Baltimore CASH Campaign.


Scholarship Opportunity for 2019


Are you headed off to college or trade school in 2019?  Well, Destinations Credit Union is pleased to announce a college scholarship opportunity to make it easier for you to meet tuition costs. The $12,000 Credit Union College Scholarship Program for 2019 is underway now!  College-bound members are eligible to apply for one of ten $1,000 essay-based scholarships - one $1,000 video-based scholarship; and one $1,000 photo-based scholarship.  And, yes, you may apply in all three categories!

Deadline for applications is March 31, 2019.  Scholarship winners will be announced in May 2019 on the Credit Union Foundation MD|DC’s scholarship website: cufound.org/scholarship.

This year’s essay topic:
“How can your credit union help you become financially independent?”

This year’s video topic:
“Create a 60-second video showing how your credit union helps you achieve your financial goals.”

This year’s photo theme is:
“Dream big”

Any member of Destinations Credit Union who is entering their freshmen through senior year of college or trade school may apply. 

“We’re pleased to offer this opportunity for our young members,” said Brian Vittek, CEO of Destinations Credit Union. “The awardees receive needed financial assistance to help them meet their tuition expenses and the application topics stimulate innovative and useful responses to help us better serve our college-aged members.”
